“Darkness does not win because it is strong. It wins because the lamps stop fighting.”
The Legend of Suheldev: King Who Saved India is a
historic fiction novel written by Amish and the immortal writers’ centre. The body of this book is written by a group of anonymous people known to us as,
Immortal Writers’ Center, while Amish wrote the final draft of the book. In this book, Amish
has written the story of Suheldev, a forgotten Indian king who has united
Indians against the Turks. Suheldev has led a major battle of Bahraich
against Salar Maqsud.
In 1025 AD, The Turkish ruler Mahmud of Ghazni
was attacking India constantly. They have destroyed many temples and stolen
their ideals in India. The Turks even have an alliance with some rulers, by
bribing them. Suheldev was the prince of Shravasti. His brother has given his
life in defending the temples of Somnath. To revenge his brother and country,
Suheldev became a bandit and started threatening the Turkish army in India. However,
India was divided and the Turks were taking advantage of this. So, he
united Indians of all religion and cast against the Turks. Suheldev has fought
the battle of Bahraich against the Turkish chief Salar Maqsud.
This book of this forgotten hero had given us a message, to be united and, that united we can defeat anyone but divided we fall.
It has left us thinking about the caste system and diversity in our country. It
also has some revelation, but not like those of other Amish’s books. This book
again like other of his book explores Indian history and its culture, but
unlike others, it explores medieval India. India has many other
stories of forgotten heroes, and we hope that the immortal writers’ centre will
tell us them too.
Although this book becomes a bit
bland sometimes and it has a non-uniform pace. This book is a decent read. I’ll
rate this book B- and recommend that if you’re looking for a historical fiction
book, then this book is for you. And if you’re a fan of Amish, then you must
try this.
My Rating: B-
