“All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”

Animal Farm is an allegorical novella written by George Orwell. The title of this novella is the name of a farm, which is controlled by animals. After a rebellion against the owner of the farm, animals take control of the Manor Farm. This way they started running the farm with equality and hard work. But unfortunately, things don't go as they have planned.

“Man is the only creature that consumes without producing. He does not give milk, he does not lay eggs, he is too weak to pull the plough, he cannot run fast enough to catch rabbits. Yet he is lord of all the animals. He sets them to work, he gives back to them the bare minimum that will prevent them from starving, and the rest he keeps for himself.”

The animals of the Manor Farm have decided to rebel against their lazy, corrupt and ill-treating farm owners. Two pigs, Napoleon and Snowball led the rebellion of the animals. Now, the animals achieved their rebellion, and the humans are thrown out from the farm. The animals are now independently running the farm, with equality and hard work as their principles. Animals have started farming, and a few clever pigs and other animals have also succeeded in reading. The animals were hoping to create an equal, free and happy farm. However, in the end, the unthinkable consequence happened, which left us all thinking.

“The Seven Commandments:
Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy.
Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend.
No animal shall wear clothes.
No animal shall sleep in a bed.
No animal shall drink alcohol.
No animal shall kill any other animal.
All animals are equal.”

This novella is based on the Russian Revolution. We can also relate to the consequences in it in the present-day world. The concept in it of writing about a topic like this in an allegorical way was really unique. Although this is a children’s novella however it is also a must-read for grown-ups and adults. The narration of Orwell will send you directly to the farm; he has an excellent narrative style.

This book becomes one of the best classical, because of its excellent narration, unique concept and thoughts about equality. It’s a must-read for everyone. I’ll rate this novella A and highly recommend that you should read this book once.
